Serie A 2025–26 Stadio Tardini Back in the Top Flight

Parma Calcio

The Gialloblu are back. After years in Italian football's lower divisions, Parma Calcio have returned to Serie A — a club with a history that includes UEFA Cup triumphs, Serie A title challenges, and a golden generation featuring some of Italy's greatest ever players.

To understand Parma Calcio's significance in Italian football, you only need to look at the names that wore their yellow and blue shirt during the club's golden era. Gianluigi Buffon — arguably the greatest goalkeeper in history — began his career at Parma before joining Juventus. Lilian Thuram played there. Fabio Cannavaro, one of Italy's greatest defenders, was a Parma player. Hernán Crespo scored goals for Parma. For a club from a small Emilian city famous for its ham and cheese, this was an extraordinary story.

The collapse came in 2015 when the club went bankrupt and was liquidated, falling to Serie D — the fifth tier of Italian football. The subsequent rebuild through the lower leagues, fuelled by passionate local support and determination to restore the club's rightful place, is one of modern Italian football's most compelling narratives. Promotion back to Serie A after years in the wilderness was met with extraordinary emotion at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

In 2025-26, Parma are fighting to consolidate their Serie A status and begin building toward a future that can once again compete at European level. The club's history demands ambition, but the primary focus remains survival and stability as they re-establish themselves in Italy's top flight.

The Long Road Back

From Serie D in 2015 to Serie A in 2024 — Parma's resurrection required climbing four divisions in nine years. Through every lower-league battle, the club's supporters never wavered in their belief that the Gialloblu would return.
