England squad selection
Tuchel looks at Trent Alexander-Arnold's skill set and while appreciating that he's an unbelievable footballer, what he wants from his right-back is a very good one-on-one defender who's going to be competent in possession. That isn't Trent.
Premier League relegation
The EFL would be buzzing if Tottenham were in it. The English football pyramid is so special because of its mobility. It should be almost impossible to be relegated even if you are really bad, but I would be pleased that we could still have an English game where you can still be punished.
England World Cup squad
This Uruguay game is kind of like the Squid Games. There are players being pitted against each other for the honor of being England's first reserve. If they can make something happen as long as they do their work out of possession, they're in. If they give it away, they get killed, they're out.
Thomas Tuchel's England tenure
I find it hard to believe that James Garner is going to force his way into the reckoning. If Tuchel was still intending on leaving his job in the summer, I wonder if he'd be overly bothered about having a look at players. It suggests he wants to be there for a longer period of time.
Coventry City promotion
Coventry's recruitment team has been absolutely sensational for a really long period of time. A lot of it gets put down to the management of Mark Robbins and Frank Lampard, but deep down, it's been their success in the transfer market selling players for lots of money and buying more that has been remarkable.
Frank Lampard's management
Lampard's managerial career that looked like it was spiralling a little bit is now back. He's going to be a Premier League manager next season by merit, not because he's Frank Lampard.
Managerial changes
Lee Clark had a decent young management career, but he last managed in English football in the 1920 season—well, the 2019/20 season—before managing in Sudan and Oman. Arriving at Rotherham in the midst of a relegation battle didn't seem like the most obvious next stop.
England tactical analysis
One of the main benefits of Elliot Anderson's emergence has been unleashing Declan Rice. He's really good as the deepest midfielder, but he's world-class as the number eight.
Championship promotion race
Millwall's players may not have come for as much money and they may not be as well recognised, but they are playing as well as anyone at Middlesbrough or Ipswich. Their recruitment team have played an absolute blinder.
Lincoln City promotion
Lincoln City are just the best team in the league comfortably. If this was Cardiff or Huddersfield, you'd be waxing lyrical about one of the best teams we've seen in League One for a long time.
