The Machine: Haaland's Record-Breaking Debut Season
When Haaland arrived at the Etihad in the summer of 2022 for around £51m, expectations were enormous. He exceeded every one of them. 36 Premier League goals in his debut season demolished Alan Shearer’s single-season record. He also won the Champions League, completing a treble under Pep Guardiola that cemented his place among football’s all-time greats.
Man City’s Weapon: 2025-26 Campaign
In 2025-26, Haaland continues to be the focal point of Guardiola’s attack. His movement in the box, aerial ability, and ice-cold finishing make him virtually impossible to stop when service arrives. The Premier League’s golden boot race rarely gets more than a glance in anyone else’s direction when Haaland is fit and firing.
Norway’s Golden Boy
Born in Leeds and raised in Bryne, Norway, Haaland’s journey from Molde to Salzburg to Dortmund and finally to City has been one of the fastest rises in football history. Before City, he scored 86 goals in 89 games for Borussia Dortmund. His father Alf-Inge played for City — the Haaland family has deep Etihad ties.
