Bukayo Saka 2025-26
Bukayo Saka has become the player Arsenal and England built their futures around. From Hale End Academy to Highbury House, to becoming Mikel Arteta’s most important attacking weapon — Saka’s journey is one of talent meeting relentless hard work, and in 2025-26 the Gunners know their title hopes depend heavily on him.
The Saka Story
From Academy Kid to Arsenal’s Most Important Player
Saka joined Arsenal’s academy at the age of seven. By 18, he had broken into the first team and was already one of the best young players in Europe. Mikel Arteta built his entire attacking system around Saka’s ability to cut inside from the right and produce goals and assists. In 2025-26 he carries more responsibility than any other Arsenal player, and delivers it week after week.
Euro 2020: The Penalty Miss That Defined a Nation
At just 19 years old, Saka was handed England’s fifth penalty in the Euro 2020 final shoot-out against Italy. He missed. The weight of a nation fell on the shoulders of a teenager, and the racist abuse he subsequently received was one of football’s darkest moments. His response was to come back stronger, mature faster, and prove every doubter wrong with his performances for Arsenal and England.
The 2025-26 Season: Saka’s Title Chase with Arsenal
Arsenal have come agonisingly close to the Premier League title in recent seasons, finishing second to Man City. In 2025-26, with City’s grip weakening and Arsenal’s squad maturing, the Gunners believe this could finally be their year. Saka’s goals, assists, and big-game performances will be central to whether Arsenal can convert their potential into a first league title since 2004.
