Transfer news
Mohamed Salah will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season. Liverpool's stance is that they, as a gesture of goodwill to his nine years of excellent service, will allow him to leave on his terms without a transfer fee. The two-year deal is being cut in half.
Premier League greats
Only Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, and Frank Lampard in the Premier League era can beat his 284 goal contributions, and all three of them did so with at least 100 more appearances than Salah made.
Liverpool transfer strategy
From a sporting point of view, it probably does make sense for Liverpool, but it raises questions about how they fit that right-sided attacking position. They will be in the market for a high-profile addition despite their spend last summer.
Italy national team
Italy haven't been in a World Cup knockout game since 2006. They grouped in 2010 and 2014, didn't qualify in 2018, won the Euros in 2021, and didn't make it to Qatar in 2022.
MLS calendar shift
Major League Soccer is going to move the season to align with the European season. To do that, they're going to do a 14-game regular season and reduce the playoffs down to single-game knockouts.
Mohamed Salah legacy
In the 2020s, Mo Salah is actually the eighth highest scorer at Old Trafford, including all Manchester United players.
Premier League star power
I think the lack of real stars in the Premier League now is a debate that's been had. Salah was a superstar. I don't think there's any doubt about that. Who else is there? It's Haaland. Is that it?
Manager rumors
Francesco Farioli is a very attractive proposition to Premier League sides. He's gone from every season to a different country and league, and they've been successful by whatever metric you want to apply.
Everton player form
I think when you've got a goalkeeper like Jordan Pickford, it's almost like a bit of a cheat code sometimes in the sense that he does win points throughout the season, very tangibly in moments.
