The 2026 World Cup is the first to feature 48 nations — expanded from 32. This means 16 additional countries get the chance to participate, including more teams from CONCACAF, Africa and Asia.

Top 2 From Each Group Advance

The top two teams from each of the 12 groups advance automatically to the Round of 32. The 8 best third-placed teams also qualify, creating jeopardy across every final group match.

Three Host Nations

USA (11 stadiums), Canada (2 stadiums) and Mexico (3 stadiums) all host group-stage matches. Every host nation has been drawn into the tournament and will play at least one home group match.
